Currently busy writing the first page. I hope to have it ready tomorrow (1 May 2026).
Thank you for visiting this site. My name is Jonathan, a 61½-years-old male, and live in central England.
So, what is a ‘Random Point’?
About ten years ago I made a list of one thousand points randomally scattered across Britain, my ‘RPs’. The rules were (1) each point had to be at least five kilometres from any other, (2) not in a nature reserve or other environmentally sensitive area, (3) not in seriously hazardous terrain all involve crossing it, (4) is in a publicly accessible location. If it is discovered when trying to visit a point that it violates any of the rules then the nearest location to the original which does obey them becomes the revised location.
There is one additional location, Watch Hill, nr. Cockermouth, Cumbria, which was in an early version of the list but for some reason disappeared in the final version. Can’t remember why – perhaps I just forgot to include it. I did actually visit the location, so it is listed as ‘honerary’ RP no. 0000
I see I’ve only visited twenty-three of the RPs on my list since creating it (plus Watch Hill), but have found a renewed interest recently so am give it another a bit of a go.
The list itself can be found here:
